As of October 22, 2024, the Spanish Padel Federation (FEP) has achieved a major milestone, with over 107,000 registered players. This growth shows how popular padel is becoming in the country, appealing to players of all ages and skill levels. The total number of licenses has reached 107,645, breaking the previous record of 101,236 licenses at the end of 2023. The rise in registered players is due to various promotions and events. This reflects an annual growth rate of about 6% over the last two years.
In terms of regional federations, Catalunya remains at the top, achieving its own record and strengthening its status in the sport.
As a result, more clubs and facilities are being built, which encourages more people to join and helps create a lively padel community.
The number of federated padel licenses has grown a lot, increasing by 170% since 2012, when there were 39,652 licenses, the first year data was available from the FEP. Since then, the organization has seen steady annual growth, reaching 75,548 licenses by 2020.
In 2021, the sport became very popular due to the pandemic, achieving its highest growth rate ever at 28% compared to 2020, bringing the total to 96,872 licenses. Although there was a slight decline in 2022, with the total falling to 96,561, the growth picked up again in 2023 and continued into 2024, showing that the sport still attracts more federated players.
